Is Powerplay legal in India? What this desk leaves open

In State of Andhra Pradesh v. K. Satyanarayana (1968), the Supreme Court treated rummy as preponderantly skill because memory, discard choice and sequence building matter. In Dr K.R. Lakshmanan v. State of Tamil Nadu (1996), the Court described a game of skill as one where success depends principally on knowledge, training, attention, experience and adroitness.
Those cases still matter for the character of the card game. They do not, by themselves, tell a reader that a named online cash room is lawful to offer or to use in 2026.
2025 Act
The 2025 Act restricts money play, including skill-led stakes
The Act received Presidential assent on 22 August 2025 and has been treated as in force from 1 October 2025. MeitY is the nodal ministry named in public explainers.
